As we enter summer properly, there are even more new restaurants to look out for. There's another team-up between Spencer Metzger and Jason Atherton, a huge rooftop opening at Olympia, Claridge's embraces New York for its new restaurant, Adam Byatt goes Italian and lots more...
Chez Rose
Mayfair - 5 Pollen St, London W1S 1NE
After opening Row on 5 together, Spencer Metzger and Jason Atherton are at it again, joining forces with a French bistro in the space that used to be Little Social. Mainly led by Metzger, expect a very different beast from his two-Michelin-starred restaurant. The menu here features snacks like Comte gougere with lardo di colonnata, steak tartare with pomme gaufrette and poulet en cocotte with vin jaune and Jersey royals. They'll also have Sunday roasts and one of our favourite desserts, iles flottantes.
Opening: 9 June 2026
Dante Mayfair
Mayfair - Brook St, London W1K 4HR
For nearly a year, New York restaurant Dante has in residency at Claridges, with their offering being a significant part of the hotel's main restaurant menu. It's a partnership that has seen the space doing much better business, and as such, this decision to make it a permanent restaurant doesn't come as much of a surprise. Their shrimp cocktail and chicken alla diavola will be making a return, along with the "fluffy" orange juice cocktail. They'll also be behind the breakfast here, so we'll have to see what a New York-style breakfast looks like when transplanted into Mayfair.
Opening: Early-mid June
Canopy
Olympia - 2b Emberton Walk, London W14 8FJ
The big transformation at Olympia continues apace as the next big opening there is upon us. This time, it's from the people behind the alfresco food and drink operation Pergola, who are opening four new spaces up on the roof. There's the Japanese restaurant Wolves of Tokyo, the Mexican Bar Arriba, the British wine bar Lillie's and the food-hall Arbour. Most of those are going to have a great deal of alfresco dining and drinking and you should be able to get a great view up there.
Opening: 15 June 2026
Birchwood at The Conduit
Covent Garden - 6 Langley St, London WC2H 9JA
Chef Will Devlin has a series of restaurants in Kent, including the very well-regarded The Small Holding. He's now bringing one of his restaurants, Birchwood, to London. It's opening as part of The Conduit Club (although accessible to non-members). He's starting with an all-day cafe and wine bar, and he'll be using lots of produce from his own farm. The mushroom croquettes & black garlic sound great, and it'll be interesting to see how the chef's menu adapts to his new Covent Garden home.
Opening: 22 June 2026
No. Forty Nine
St John's Wood - 49–51 St John’s Wood High Street, London NW8 7NJ
This comes from the same team behind fire-led restaurants Cinder but it also sees them moving away from that concept for the first time. That's particularly notable in that No. Forty Nine will start the morning as a bakery, with pastries like pastrami pain suisse on offer. In the kitchen for the main menu is Head Chef Ella Williams and her menu sounds particularly interesting, with cornbread madeleines with scotch bonnet honey butter and crab choux buns on offer.
Opening: 2 June 2026
Rosina
Wandsworth - 35 Bellevue Road, London SW17 7EF
For his latest opening, chef Adam Byatt (best known for Trinity) is coming to Wandsworth, and this time he's going Italian. The chef is calling the menu here "a tribute to the most well-loved cuisine in the world," and dishes planned range from fried Taleggio wrapped in chard leaves with tomato fondue to conchiglie with veal and bone marrow ragĂą. He will have a cacio e pepe on the menu, so we'll have to see how his stacks up against London's best. And one dish we have to try is the rabbit Milanese with tomato fondue, rocket and lemon. There's also a dessert trolley and we love those.
Opening: 29 June 2026
Zylia
Covent Garden - 6 Bedford Street, London WC2E 9HZ
The rest of Arcade in Covent Garden might have already opened, but one of the standalone restaurants is taking its time to get things right. Nick Molyviatis (ex-Kiln Head Chef and the co-owner of Singburi) and Barry Karacostas are opening this taverna which is bringing together the best of Greek and Cypriot cuisine. So there's a menu which has everything from traditional pork and chicken souvlaki to dishes like melitzanosalata (roasted aubergine, with a mixture of herbs, roasted peppers and two types of vinegar). Molyviatis is definitely a chef worth keeping tabs on, so this will no doubt be a big hit.
Opening: 3 June 2026
Carmy's
Covent Garden - 1 Monmouth St, London WC2H 9DA
Carmela's in Islington saw Ugly Dumplings' Phil Chaykin team up with the duo known for their Bite Twice social media reviews to open an NYC-inspired pizzeria. It turned out that Bite Twice really could put their money where their mouths were, and Carmela's was a big hit. Now they're going to the next step, opening a slice shop in Covent Garden. There's a tight three-pizza menu and the team here are focused on getting great pizza slices in your hands as quickly as possible.
Opening: Late June (date TBC)
Lady of the Grapes
London Bridge - Menier Chocolate Factory, 4 O'Meara St, London SE1 1TE
The original Lady of the Grapes, a wine bar which focuses on female-led wineries, has been one of London's best wine bars for seven years. Now they're expanding with a second (much bigger) opening, taking a corner of the Menier Chocolate Factory building near Borough Market. This version will have a restaurant upstairs (in a French bistro style), while downstairs you'll find a 45-seater wine bar, called Forbidden Fruit.
Opening: 2 June 2026
Kinz
Notting Hill - 50 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3JD
Banks may be closing all the time in the UK of late, but at least those spaces are being put to some good use. The latest takes over a Notting Hill bank that was built in the 1930s by a prominent architect, and from the designs, it'll be a real looker. A two-floored affair, it's an all-day Lebanese restaurant down the back, with a deli up front. Things start in the morning with a Full Lebanese breakfast, while dishes later on include fattet aubergine - baked aubergine layered with pine nuts, tomato, yoghurt and crisp pita. The bank vault is being turned into a wine room, which will have "snug dining spaces" and tasting tables.
Opening: 1 June 2026 (delayed from May)
