This week features the last piece of The Chancery Rosewood puzzle, a new opening by the Prince Arthur team, a famous Vietnamese restaurant opening in Covent Garden and more...
Tobi Masa
Mayfair - 30 Grosvenor Square, London W1K 6LE
Originally supposed to be opening late October, you can actually book a table at chef Masayoshi Takayama’s restaurant at The Chancery Rosewood from this week. It's the last major opening at the former US embassy (for now, at least), and it's the first London restaurant for the chef in the city (excluding his previous Harrods counter). His New York restaurant has three Michelin stars, and exactly what's planned for this opening is somewhat surprisingly still under wraps. We do know that there will be an omakase counter, a more traditional dining room and Otsumami bites at their bar. With everyone talking about Carbone right now, this might be the restaurant that will get the actual hotel's food offerings a little more attention.
Opening date: 15 October 2025
Arthur's Market
Chelsea - 279 King’s Rd, London SW3 5EW
This is a follow-up to the very successful Prince Arthur pub in Belgravia. Here, they're going for something different, starting with an upmarket deli (the titular Arthur's Market). Once inside, you'll also find two dining counters. First is Asa, which is a Japanese handroll izakaya, and then there's Salvador, which is going to be a pintxo grill serving up "Mediterranean-inspired, wood-fired dishes". On top of that, there will be a wine bar too. The Prince Arthur was a welcome surprise when it opened, so this should be very popular with the Chelsea locals.
Opening date: 15 October 2025
Cô Thành
Covent Garden - 16 Henrietta St, London WC2E 8QH
Taking over the space that was once Frenchie, this is the London outpost of a Vietnamese restaurant which originally opened in Hong Kong. The dishes here are inspired by "the Lunch Lady", aka Mrs Nguyễn Thị Thanh, who first came to fame in one of Anthony Bourdain's programmes. Signature dishes from the original restaurant will be available here, like Bún Mắm (a vermicelli noodle soup made from fermented fish and shrimp paste broth), although there will be some new London-only specials.
Opening date: 15 October 2025
The Trafalgar
Chelsea - 224-226 King's Road, London SW3 5UA
This pub is from the Three Cheers Pub Co (behind The Abbeville and many more pubs) and it's the first new pub that's been built on The King's Road in more than a century. Taking over a building that was designed by the man behind the PM's country retreat Chequers, this will have a standard pub on the ground floor, albeit one with big Georgian windows, which means it should be a light-filled space. There's also an area downstairs that's more of a late-night party space with live music, cabaret and comedy.
Opening date: 13 October 2025
Clara
Shoreditch - 17 Bethnal Green Rd, London E1 6LA
This is the second three-in-one opening of the week, this one coming from the same people who used to run The Farrier in Camden. Clara is a combo deli, wine bar/shop and Mediterranean-influenced bistro. The deli will have lots of fancy things from Flourish, Provisions, HG Walter and Neal’s Yard Dairy and more (along with their own in-house mozzarella) while the wine list takes an artisanal European approach. Finally, the bistro is run by Head Chef Elie Fourcroy (previously Artusi), with dishes including Manchego Fritti (a fusion of Spanish manchego and French panisse batter, fried until golden and topped with parmesan) and the pictured mortadella bun.
Opening date: 14 October 2025
