New restaurants and bars opening in London this week

This week, a new Mondo Sando arrives, there's a huge new Japanese izakaya in Shoreditch, wine and pizza in Belgravia and more...

Mitsu

Shoreditch - 10-50 Willow St, London EC2A 4BH

This big new opening takes over from what was Nobu Shoreditch, and while it's not straying too far from that successful template, it is making it feel more at keeping with the area. It's in the style of an East Tokyo izakaya (albeit a very large one) and won't be quite as high-end as Nobu. On the food front, expect a large sushi and sashimi selection, kushikatsu and kamameshi dishes as well as pork tomahawk and beef fillet on the robata grill.

Opening date: 6 April 2026 (Soft launching 6-8 April)

CantoastCantoast

Marylebone - 21-23 Nutford Place, London W1H 5YH

Cantoast have been popping up across town and now they're settling down in Marylebone for at least the next six months. They're normally all about French toast, which they create using their own milk bread and a variety of Asian flavours like pandan coconut. That French toast will eventually be available here, but they're kicking things off just with honey toast and other bakes this time around.

Opening date: 8 April 2026 (salt bread giveaway on 11 April)

Mondo to Go

Deptford - Arch 5, Deptford Market Yards, London SE8 4BX

Mondo Sando have gone from strength to strength in recent years, with their last opening, Cafe Mondo, being their biggest hit. Mondo to Go will be their second standalone space, this time concentrating more on takeaway sandwiches. That said, there is a sizeable outside terrace here too (seating around 60) and you will be able to drink beer and cocktails there. So expect this to do very well indeed when the sun is shining.

Opening date: 10 April 2026 (Soft launching 10-12 April)

Weezie's

Belgravia - 14-15 Eccleston Yards, 21 Eccleston Pl, London SW1W 9AZ

Following on from the success of Ria's, Weezie's is the next opening to make the most of being the mid-ground between a wine bar and a pizzeria. They'll be serving up thin-crust pizzas in the London/New Haven-style (although we're yet to see the menu). And as they're from the same people behind Amie Wine Studio, you can expect them to have a particularly good wine selection (as well as Guinness on tap).

Opening date: 10 April 2026

The HorsemenThe Horsemen

City of London - 1 Broadgate, London EC2M 2QS

The Horsemen comes from the same team that launched the London version of Sunday in Brooklyn. It's pitched as an "American/Irish" opening and one that comes in two halves. The Horsemen is a "traditional Irish freehouse" where they'll be showing horse racing on big screens (lucky that it opens just before the Grand National). That will be followed a week later by Fitzgerald's which is a "jockey-club inspired dining room" serving up a grill-focused menu.

Opening date: The Horsemen opens 7 April 2026, Fitzgerald's on 13 April 2026.

Here's what opened last week

Acme Taco (Walthamstow) - Acme Fire Cult launched a new taco restaurant at 40Ft Brewery.

Hell's Kitchen (Marylebone) - Gordon Ramsay brought his most famous brand to London for the first time.

Poolhouse (City of London) - A pool hall updated for the 21st century.
