Here are all the new restaurants to look forward to in the coming week. Even though this is only a four-day week, thanks to the bank holiday, it's the busiest week for new openings yet, with TEN new restaurants opening their doors in those four days, from what will be a pizza smash on Newington Green to the arrival of Uncle Roger.
Bar Etna
Stoke Newington - 47 Newington Green, London N16 9PX
Given what huge hits both The Plimsoll and Tollington's have been, there's understandably been a lot of hype about the opening of Bar Etna on Newington Green. Having been to a very early preview, we're here to tell you that this is going to do very well indeed. The venture sees The Plimsoll's Ed McIlroy joining forces with Philadelphia's pizza king for a pizzeria that places British ingredients and American know-how at its centre.
Opening date: 7 May 2026
MA/NA
Mayfair - 30 Upper Grosvenor Street, London W1K 7PH
This is the latest opening from the Thesleff Group, who are also behind the Los Mochis restaurants and Sale e Pepe. Taking over the large space that used to be Ruya, this is a modern Japanese restaurant, with dishes like Bulgogi Robata on the menu (grilled bone-in ribeye with ginger, garlic and sesame soy). There's also a big focus on the bar and in the evenings, the entire space will "evolve into a contemporary cocktail bar".
Opening date: 6 May 2026
Kawan
Chinatown - 12 Macclesfield Street, London W1D 5BP
Uncle Roger (aka comedian Nigel Ng) is getting ready to open his first London restaurant. Ng has quite a few restaurants in Malaysia, but for this London opening, he's joined up with Keng Yew (who's behind London openings like YiQi and The Eight). With such a huge social following, you can expect this place to be rammed in its opening days.
Opening date: 9 May 2026 (soft launch 9-11 May, full launch 12 May)
All Roads
Brixton - 44 Atlantic Road, London SW9 8JN
All Roads started life as a supper club and now Malika Green and Paschelle Brown are making it permanent. Their food is described as comfort food that's inspired by their shared Caribbean heritage, as well as British, European and Southern American influences. That translates into dishes like pork chops served with pimento peppercorn sauce and buttered apple with thyme. If you haven't managed to book one of their supperclubs, this is the ideal time to try their food.
Opening date: 6 May 2026
Bread Street Kitchen
City of London - 59th Floor, 22 Bishopsgate, London EC2N 4BQ
This the final part of Gordon Ramsay's collection of high-rise restaurants at 22 Bishopsgate, which were covered heavily in his recent Netflix series. Opening well over a year after the first restaurants (one floor above) opened, this will be the grandest opening of his Bread Street Kitchen restaurants yet. Perhaps its biggest draw is that it'll be a 24-hour opening, with the sports bar in particular open all night.
Opening date: 6 May 2026
Bar Des Pres
Mayfair - 41 South Audley St, London, W1K 2PS
This isn't so much a new restaurant but one that's moved to a completely new location. The original restaurant was, until recently, on Albemarle Street and now it's taken over the ex-Socca site (while remaining in Mayfair). The team have made quite a few changes to the space, most notably with the large bar counter, while the food remains the same as the original: a mix of French and East-Asian cuisine, albeit with a few new dishes like crunchy crab & avocado galette.
Opening date: 7 May 2026
Trèsind
Mayfair - 13 Hanover St, London W1S 1NE
Trèsind is a restaurant that originally started in Dubai (and also has an outpost in Mumbai). Describing itself as a "modernist Indian dining experience", you can expect a high-end take on Indian cuisine. It's a tasting menu-only experience, taking on a new restaurant space just on the corner of Pollen Street. One of their key dishes will be the Khichdi of India, a dish with 20 different ingredients that represent different states in India.
Opening date: 8 May 2026
Rossella
Muswell Hill - 107 Muswell Hill Road, London N10 3HS
It's taken more than 40 years for the family behind popular Kentish Town restaurant Rossella to think about expanding. But they haven't gone far for their second venture, just a few miles down the road to Muswell Hill. Here they've taken over a large space close to the cinema where they'll be serving up pizza and pasta. The key thing is that they're planning a tiramisu trolley.
Opening date: 5 May 2026 (Soft launch 5-10 May)
Tigermilk
Spitalfields - London Fruit Exchange, Brushfield St, London E1 6AG
Tigermilk is a Latin American restaurant that started life in Paris before opening its first London outpost near Tottenham Court Road. For their second, they're coming to Spitalfields, opening in a much larger space that will apparently fit in 280 people. As for the menu, expect tacos, ceviches, a truffle quesadilla, and larger grilled dishes.
Opening date: 8 May 2026
Ornella
Hackney - 51 Wilton Way, London E8 1BG
After having a big hit with Ornella, the same team (actor Theo James, restaurateur Ed Templeton and chef Naz Hassan) are back again with their second restaurant. This new Shoreditch opening is bigger than the last one and while it keeps the Italian influence, this time they're looking to Milan for inspiration. That means dishes like risotto alla Milanese, along with vitello tonnato and tagliatelle al burro e Parmigiano on the menu.
Opening date: 8 May 2026
Here's what opened last week
Oudh 1772 (Southwark) - The chef behind two-Michelin-starred Opheem, Aktar Islam, opens his first London restaurant.
Tavern (Shoreditch) - What was once Nest has been transformed into a British bistro.
Avi Bistrot (Belgravia) - The people behind The Prince Arthur gastropub have opened this high-end French/American bistro.
