Cantoast Bakery are bringing their Hong Kong inspired French toasts to Marylebone

If there's one thing we love here at Hot Dinners, it's a new Chinese or Japanese bakery. So we're delighted to bring you news of a hot new opening coming to Marylebone soon.

Cantoast Bakery have been popping up all over London for the past couple of years. Their USP is a French toast offering using their own milk bread that they then pair with a variety of Asian flavours. Think pandan coconut, golden salted egg and black sesame, along with specials like ube leche flan and mango sago. They've also been doing their own salt breads.

Behind the bakery is talented baker Haydon Wong, whose CV includes time spent at Bao, as a research and development chef at Dumpling Shack and, most recently, as a baker at Forno in Hackney.

Finding a permanent bakery home has always been the dream, and thanks to a new Westminster Council initiative, Haydon and his team have been given a helping hand as part of the council's Meanwhile On project. As they explain it, "the project was set up to provide upcoming brands with access to underused shops," and it includes relief on business rates, budget for store design, and support from project delivery partner Someday Studios. Frankly, it sounds like just the kind of thing more London councils should be doing across the city to support fledgling hospitality businesses.

To that end, they'll be taking over a site just off the Edgware Road for the next six months. The bakery will also be a cafe serving up coffee with those bakes. That's all we know so far about their plans, but they're going to be posting about the build-up over on TikTok and Instagram over the next few weeks.
