Around this time last year, one of the founders of Ottolenghi teamed up with the owner of a Taiwanese noodle brand to open the first Kung Fu Mama in Covent Garden. It must have been a good year for them as they're opening a follow-up restaurant, this time in Canary Wharf.
The plan is to follow the same approach as the original, use Kung Fu Mama's sun-dried noodles as the base of a number of noodle dishes. So you can expect bowls full of chicken with ginger & sesame, 12-hour beef with Szechuan pepper, portobello mushroom with Romano pepper and a traditional beef noodle soup.
And it's not all about the noodle soup, because you'll also find several bao buns like oven-baked chicken bao or soft-shell crab bao. And it all ends with desserts like their mango shaved ice cream or pineapple pie.
Noodles are big business right now, so this should be very welcome in Canary Wharf.
