Since 2022, chef Andrew Clarke's Acme Fire Cult has been open as part of 40Ft Brewery's Dalston home. But when the brewery opened in Walthamstow last year, the food was provided by a series of pop-ups. Now that's changing as Acme are finding a second permanent home, but this time as Acme Taco.
At the new Acme, Clarke has been inspired by regional Mexican cuisine, with tacos made from double-layer soft tortillas. On the menu, you'll find the Suadero Taco (confit ox cheek, beef sausage, heart & tongue, finished with smoky bone marrow & salsa roja) and, inspired by an LA food truck, the ‘Jalisco Mariscos’ Shrimp Taco, which is a crispy shell taco with shrimp bechamel, avocado and clamato.
Thre is also a quesabirria with Westholme Wagyu chuck, roll fried cheese (and consommé for dipping) and a Castacán, their take on a classic chicarrón, with chopped slow-cooked pork belly with crackling and a gooseberry-poblano ketchup. There's even a vegan option with Symplicity Chorizo, I am Nut Ok stracciatella and pickled corno peppers.
Alongside all this will be, of course, plenty of 40FT beers (and cocktails). The original Acme FireCuly has been cocnsistantly excellent, so we have high hopes for this opening.
