Is it a sign of the times that a celebrity-backed vegan burger restaurant's former site in Soho has been taken over by a longstanding London independent group? The current smashburger craze shows no sign of slowing down and a brand new addition (at least to this country) has just arrived in Victoria. HBR first started in Kuwait, and this London opening is their first overseas.

A year on from their fellow Parisians Junk Burger arriving in London, Dumbo and their smash burgers are also crossing the Channel. Of the two burger companies, Dumbo were the first to introduce smashburgers to Paris and their arrival in London will be the brand's first place outside of that city.

It's been a while since we had anything new in from the team behind MEATliquor, so it's fair to say we're looking forward to seeing what they have planned for their next venture in Covent Garden. Fat Phill's started life in Amsterdam five years ago and they already have loads of branches in the Netherlands. Here in London, they've picked Clapham Junction as their first UK restaurant.
