New London restaurants opening in July 2022

Going into July we've reached a month packed full of interesting new openings in London. Here is our pick of the key ones to know about. 

 

TBCTatale

Southwark - 66 Great Suffolk St, London SE1 0BL

Chef Akwasi Brenya-Mensa has been building up to the opening of Tatale with a series of successful supperclubs and this is his first permanent restaurant. Set inside the Africa Centre in Southwark, it's all based around pan-African cuisine with dishes taking influence from across the continent, including specific Ghanaian references.

Tim HortonsTim Hortons

Park Royal - Royale Leisure Park, London W3 0PA

The Canadian fast-food chain has many fans around the world and has opened in the UK before - but this is the first time we're seeing a London restaurant. Alongside hot and iced coffees expect burgers, hot dogs and their mini-doughnut Timbits. The Park Royal location will also have a drive-thru.

Straker'sStraker's

Notting Hill - 91 Golborne Rd, London W10 5PR

Chef Thomas Straker has built up an absolutely huge following on both TikTok and Instagram during the various lockdowns. The chef, who has worked at Heston Blumenthal’s Dinner and Elystan Street, will have a menu at his Notting Hill restaurant that's based around sustainability and seasonality as well as sticking to his central premise - "food you want to eat".

BubalaBubala

Soho - 15 Poland Street, London W1F 8PR

The original Bubala, serving up a vegetarian Middle-Eastern-inspired menu in Spitalfields, was a big hit when it opened. This second restaurant, in Soho, is slightly bigger than the original and as well as featuring some of the favourite dishes from the original, like the confit potato latkes, will be adding Soho exclusives too.

The BaringThe Baring

Islington - 55 Baring St, London N1 3DS

This Islington pub is by a duo with a resume that includes Dabbous, Kerridge's Bar and Grill and Orasay so we should be expecting good things. Seasonality and provenance with a low environmental impact are the focus with dishes including quail shish, pul biber chilli & garlic yoghurt.

Miznon LondonMiznon London

Soho - 8-12 Broadwick St, London W1F 8HN

Israeli celebrity chef Eyal Shani's Miznon is a big deal, with restaurants worldwide including Paris and New York. It's primarily all about their soft-filled pitas as well as one of their signatures, the whole roasted cauliflower.

MriyaMriya

Chelsea - Brompton Road, SW5 9JA

Mirya comes from one of Ukraine's top chefs, Yurii Kovryzhenko, who has had to remain in London due to the war with Russia. He's now opening his own Ukrainian restaurant here, with the plan to have it staffed by Ukrainian refugees.

Bottle & RyeBottle & Rye

Brixton - Ground Floor, 404-406 Market Row, Brixton, London SW9 8LD

This Brixton wine bar comes from Robin and Sarah Gill, who are also behind Bermondsey Larder and Darby's. This will be inspired by the Parisian wine bar scene and they've brought in an ex-Lino chef to take care of the food.

Valderrama’sValderrama’s

Islington - 163 Upper St, Islington, London N1 1US 

Valderrama's is the second Islington restaurant from James Cochran, also behind 12:51. This time he's opening a sports bar that will serve frozen cocktails alongside fried chicken, with this restaurant being a permanent home for his Around the Cluck spin-off.

harrods barThe Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar at Harrods

Knightsbridge - Harrods, Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7XL

Harrods is going big on Champagne with this huge new bar from Moet (and it's also the first time the Champagne brand has opened a permanent bar in Europe). Expect lots of "food bites" to go with the fizz, including oysters (of course) and a dessert called Moët Caramel.

Also opening in July

  • Caia (Notting Hill) - A new wine bar from people behind nearby restaurant Fiend.
  • Maddox Tavern (Mayfair) - Taking over the old Browns spot in Mayfair, this is a new British brasserie
  • Mr Ji (Camden) - A second appearance from the Asian tapas bar, with the TA TA team behind the food
  • Uzumaki (Bloomsbury) - The anime-themed bar and restaurant finds a new home
  • Isibani (Knightsbridge) - described as "a love letter to West African cuisine"
  • Zephyr (Notting Hill) - From the people behind Pachamama, this time going Greek
