Mayfair

  • Bar Des Pres is on the move (but staying within Mayfair)

After nearly four years, Bar Des Pres is on the move. It's staying within Mayfair, though, just moving from Albemarle Street to South Audley Street.

Taking over the space that was once Socca, this gives Cyril Lignac's restaurant a light-filled corner space. If you went to Socca in the past, you'll see that they've also dramatically changed the room, adding a large counter seating area (which was always one of the highlights of the Albemarle Street location). Meanwhile, the back area of the restaurant, which was always a tricky space to fill given that the main restaurant was

  • Test Driving Maza Mayfair, a Greek party vibe without the plate smashing

    maza mayfair restaurant review london

The latest addition to Mayfair's restaurant alley, Bruton Place, is a Greek restaurant offering true hospitality. We visited Maza Mayfair to see why they're already a hit.

  • Igni has ex-Cycene chef Theo Clench taking over the ex-Humo space in Mayfair

Early last year, Miller Prada left Humo somewhat unexpectedly and the restaurant somewhat struggled since, eventually losing its Michelin star earlier this year. Now the same group is getting ready to relaunch the restaurant as Igni, this time led by ex-Cycene chef Theo Clench. Clench was responsible for getting Cycene its Michelin star, so he'll definitely be looking to get one for Igni too.

It doesn't sound like there will be much change to the room itself. Humo was a beautiful restaurant dominated by a long kitchen counter with lots of fire-led cooking and it sounds like that

  • Test Driving Berenjak Mayfair, the Persian restaurant has really upped the glam factor

    Berenjak Mayfair

For their third London restaurant, Berenjak have opened a very glamorous restaurant in Mayfair. We went down to check it their latest location and to see what's new on their Persian-inspired menu.

  • Maza Mayfair sees the team behind Notting Hill's Mazi heading to central London

We reported on this one way back in June 2025, but now it's being confirmed, Mazi is coming to Mayfair - although this outpost will be called Maza.

It's been over a decade since Mazi opened its doors in Notting Hill. The refined Greek food restaurant by Adrien Carre and Christina Mouratoglou has since spawned sibling establishment Suzi Tros, also in Notting Hill, and this central London opening will launch in the old Pizza Express building opposite The Guinea on Bruton Place. The space, you may remember, was briefly taken over by the Guinea during Covid and used as the Guinea

  • MA/NA sees the Los Mochis team head to Mayfair with a Japanese restaurant

15/3/26 - updated with the opening date

What was the big Ruya site on Upper Grosvenor Street, next to Corrigan's has been taken over by the Thesleff Group. They're behind Los Mochis in Notting Hill, Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge (and now Marylebone) and the Juno and Luna omakase restaurants.

This latest opening will be a brand new Japanese restaurant for them, called MA/NA, which they say "combines contemporary style and traditional Japanese techniques". In charge of the food here will be Executive Chef Leonard Tanyag (who also looks after the menus for Los Mochis,

  • Berenjak sets an opening date for bringing its Persian cuisine to Mayfair

11/3/26 - updated with opening details

After an initial small opening in Soho back in 2018, Berenjak really has hit the big time of late. Along with their Soho and Borough Market restaurants, they also have openings as far afield as Doha and Dubai and recently opened their first US restaurant in LA. We've known about their next London opening for a while, and now it seems they're finally getting ready to open the doors in Mayfair.

The Mayfair restaurant (opening in a new development which hasn't been a restaurant before), takes up two floors. It'll be their

  • New bar Brutes of Mayfair pairs Monster Munch topped martinis with crisps & caviar

When you learn that the duo behind new Mayfair bar Brutes have an absolute ton of restaurant and bar experience between them, it's perhaps no surprise that they've managed to feature every current bar and snacks trend in town. But a proper look at what they have planned for their Bruton Place bar shows that they are intending to take almost everything to the next level.

While everyone else is doing martinis, Brutes goes one further with a martini card that allows you to pick your base spirits, the style it's served (dry, wet, dirty and - a new one on us - brutal), plus the

  • Temaki make the move from Brixton to Mayfair for their central London handroll bar

6/3/26 - updated with the opening date

Japanese handroll restaurant Temaki opened in Brixton in 2021 and quickly found a dedicated following. However, all good things come to an end and they closed up in Brixton last August, and went on the hunt for a new central London location. They've now found just that, thanks to help from The Crown Estate. The new Temaki will be launching on Maddox Street in Mayfair, taking over a space right next to Maddox Gallery and a few doors down from Patara.

Not surprisingly, Temaki focuses on the Japanese handrolls of its title,

  • Test Driving Sushi Amamoto - one of the world's top sushi chefs arrives in London

What was once the Michelin-starred Taku has been taken to the next level by the arrival of one of the world's best sushi chefs. We went to see just what you can expect from Sushi Amamoto.

  • Miko Mei Fair sees Samyukta Nair reviving Koyn Thai in a new guise, underneath MiMi Mei Fair

Since the closure of Koyn, restaurateur Samyukta Nair had said she would be looking for a new place to put Koyn Thai (which we loved when we visited). Now she's found that space - it's taking over the ground floor of MiMi Mei Fair and will be called MIKO Mei Fair.

That lower-ground space had a distinctly different look from the rest of MiMi Mei Fair, so it does seem like a good fit. The kitchen here will be led by Soonthorn Apaipat, who was the Head Chef of KOYN Thai, so if you were a

  • Sabor's Nieves Barragan Mohacho is taking on the residency at The Donovan Bar

The Donovan Bar in Mayfair's Brown's Hotel has been pulling in some impressive residencies of late, like Mitch Tonk and Andrew Wong. Their latest continues that trend as Nieves Barragan Mohacho, just celebrating a new Michelin star for Legado (on top of the star for Sabor), takes over the food in March.

She'll be adding a selection of small plates to the menu, so you'll find dishes like seared tuna with silky ajo blanco and Porthilly pysters finished with fino sherry emulsion and citrus oil. They'll also have pork ear ‘a feira,’ confit artichoke with lovage aioli and

  • Taipei sushi master Shogo Amamoto opens Sushi Amamoto in London, replacing Michelin-starred Taku in Mayfair

It seems that everyone is on the rebrand train at the moment, with a lot of big relaunches in London. The latest is in Mayfair and sees omakase restaurant Taku being relaunched as Sushi Amamoto.

That sees the restaurant being taken over by chef Shogo Amamoto, whose Sushi Amamoto restaurant in Taipei is a big deal with two Michelin stars, a year-long waiting list and an insane $2000 menu. Here in London he's retaining the team that was previously leading Taku, including head chef Jongho Park.

As for what to expect from the new place, it sounds like a similar affair to

  • Pretty in pink, the celebration of rhubarb going on at Mayfair cafe Hideaway

For those of you attuned to the seasons and what's being harvested in Britain at the moment, this season's colour is definitively candyfloss pink. Yorkshire rhubarb is in season right now, and bakery fiends will have spotted the intensely pink stalks being used in cakes and pastries across the city over the last week or so. The forced rhubarb is grown in sheds under candlelight, which is what gives it that intensely pink hue.

Now, a Mayfair cafe is going all out on the seasonal sticks with a month-long celebration of rhubarb. It's all been led by Hidewaway's chef director Josh
