After nearly four years, Bar Des Pres is on the move. It's staying within Mayfair, though, just moving from Albemarle Street to South Audley Street.
Taking over the space that was once Socca, this gives Cyril Lignac's restaurant a light-filled corner space. If you went to Socca in the past, you'll see that they've also dramatically changed the room, adding a large counter seating area (which was always one of the highlights of the Albemarle Street location). Meanwhile, the back area of the restaurant, which was always a tricky space to fill given that the main restaurant was clearly the space to be, has now been converted into a private dining room area.
The menu will have the same approach to the original, a mix of French and East-Asian cuisine, so don't expect too many changes on that front. Dishes promised for the new location include a Crunchy crab & avocado galette, Marinated sea bass with yuzu, dry miso and rocoto and their signature profiteroles with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and Chantilly.
The design of the restaurant certainly looks impressive, as well as putting Bar Des Pres into a more prominent location. So if you were a fan of the restaurant in the past, it sounds like it will be well worth a revisit in its new home.
