NYC hotspot Coqodaq has arrived in London - we tried the nuggets

Coqodaq is popping up in London

Having appeared in Gordon Ramsay's Knife's Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars show for Netflix, New York restaurant Coqodaq's next move was to come to London. And for the two weeks of Wimbledon, they're popping up at Gordon Ramsay's Lucky Cat in Mayfair.

If you haven't had the joy of visiting the NYC restaurant, then let us give you an idea of the place. We went to the New York restaurant a few years back on our last visit across the pond when it was newly open and insanely difficult to get a table, and we loved it. They're all about Korean fried chicken and Champagne, so that casual luxe approach is going to go down well in Mayfair.

In London, things are a bit more stripped back. There are three Coqodaq dishes on the pop-up menu: 24 Karat Golden Nugget topped with Petrossian caviar, a Black Gold Nugget finished with Australian Périgord truffle and finally a dish of bluefin tuna tartare with Calabrian chilli soy sauce.

In addition, they are also going to be serving up the takeaway boxes that caused such a stir stateside when they were served up at the US Open last year.

We popped into Lucky Cat to try all of these, so here's what you can expect:

roomThe two main nuggets that you can order in the restaurant are the 24 Karat Golden Nugget topped with Petrossian caviar (£24) and a Black Gold Nugget finished with Australian Perigord truffle (£26). Excellent truffles and VERY decadent.

roomThere's also an additional Coqodaq dish of bluefin tuna tartare with Calabrian chilli soy sauce (£22), served with toasted sourdough which has a great chilli hit on the tartare.

roomThe Coqodaq box (£100) which can be ordered to go. It includes six nuggets, 30g of Petrossian caviar, (which is pretty generous), creme fraiche, chives for sprinkling and some of their amazing pickled daikon.

roomThe decent caviar portion means you can really get generous with your toppings. Note that the box is mainly for taking away, so it'd be great for taking along to the Wimbledon games showing on nearby Hanover Square, for instance.

Coqodaq is only around for two weeks, so if you're looking to try this, you'll need to get a move on.
