  • Temaki make the move from Brixton to Mayfair for their central London handroll bar

    Japanese handroll restaurant Temaki opened in Brixton in 2021 and quickly found a dedicated following. However, all good things come to an end and they closed up in Brixton last August, and went on the hunt for a new central London location. They've now found just that, thanks to help from The Crown Estate. The new Temaki will be launching on Maddox Street in Mayfair, taking over a space right next to Maddox Gallery and a few doors down from Patara.

  • Sabor's Nieves Barragan Mohacho is taking on the residency at The Donovan Bar

    The Donovan Bar in Mayfair's Brown's Hotel has been pulling in some impressive residencies of late, like Mitch Tonk and Andrew Wong. Their latest continues that trend as Nieves Barragan Mohacho, just celebrating a new Michelin star for Legado (on top of the star for Sabor), takes over the food in March.

  • Taipei sushi master Shogo Amamoto opens Sushi Amamoto in London, replacing Michelin-starred Taku in Mayfair

    It seems that everyone is on the rebrand train at the moment, with a lot of big relaunches in London. The latest is in Mayfair and sees omakase restaurant Taku being relaunched as Sushi Amamoto. 

    That sees the restaurant being taken over by chef Shogo Amamoto, whose Sushi Amamoto restaurant in Taipei is a big deal with two Michelin stars, a year-long waiting list and an insane $2000 menu. Here in London he's retaining the team that was previously leading Taku, including head chef Jongho Park.

  • Pretty in pink, the celebration of rhubarb going on at Mayfair cafe Hideaway

    For those of you attuned to the seasons and what's being harvested in Britain at the moment, this season's colour is definitively candyfloss pink. Yorkshire rhubarb is in season right now, and bakery fiends will have spotted the intensely pink stalks being used in cakes and pastries across the city over the last week or so.   • Is Richard Caring's Le Caprice coming to the Chancery Rosewood after all?

    In what's very much an on-again/off-again affair, it looks like the much rumoured return of Le Caprice is back on again. The restaurant had long been rumoured to be part of the launch of the new Chancery Rosewood hotel, but just before that opened the deal was thought to have fallen through. The hotel opened, along with Carbone, but the space that was originally supposed to be Le Caprice (the corner pictured above) remained unfilled.

  • Endo at The Rotunda is back in pop-up form, opening inside Mayfair club Annabel's

    Back in September 2025, a fire at the former Television Centre in White City meant that one of London's best restaurants Endo at The Rotunda was forced to close, less than a year after a major refurbishment, no less.
