It's been a while since we've seen a new restaurant launch at 10 Heddon Street, the space that once held Manteca, Fallow and Sarap as residencies. The residency days are behind it now and instead, it's relaunching as a permanent Georgian restaurant, DakaDaka.
It's the first restaurant from new hospitality group Berkeley Square Hospitality. That comes from Giorgi Mindiashvili and Mitz Vora, previously at Ennismore, where they helped launch restaurants like Eggbreak and Seabird. It will be a modern interpretation of Georgian cuisine and open-fire cooking will be a big focus and the menu will feature a combo of British and Georgian ingredients.
Promised for the menu are:
- Badrijiani - grilled mauve aubergine, sunflower seed tahini, corno pepper, confit garlic
- Khinkali - hand-folded dumplings with options including three-cheese & winter truffle or Iberico pork pluma
- Skewers, including native lamb kebab lavash, roscoff onions, parsley, sumac
- Shila Plavi - lobster rice bisque, octopus, wild fennel, marigold
Plus, there will be large grills like a Jersey beef rib with barberry salsa or a whole John Dory with sumac molasses.
On the drinks front, Sune's Honey Spencer has put together a list that focuses on Georgian wines, and the redesign of the space will open up a new floor of 10 Heddon Street (the previous residencies only took up the ground floor). So on the lower ground floor there will now be a dedicated wine and cocktail bar, a private room and an event space.
