You've got to hand it to Times restaurant critic Giles Coren. Somehow, he's managed to persuade one of his favourite London restaurants Med Salleh, to open a new restaurant right down the road from his home. If there was ever a shoo-in for a Times review it would surely be this one.
If you haven't been to either their Bayswater or Westbourne Grove restaurants then here's Coren's description to give you an idea of what to expect. "The menu is an urgent mash-up of street snacks, hawker dishes and rice and noodle things, and the choice is to have all of it in one go and lie there groaning for days afterwards, or go back another time to try other things. So I did both."
The Kentish Town outpost sounds more like the OG Med Salleh Kopitiam rather than their second Vietnamese-accented offering. Founders Med Pan and Koi Lee say it will focus on "the vibrant flavours of Malaysian street food, from the tastes of Ipoh to Penang".
One thing we do know will be on the menu is Kamparian Classic Salted Fish Claypot Chicken Rice as they say "the kitchen is uniquely designed for claypot cuisine".
