They're rated the world’s 6th best artisan pizzeria chain by the 50 Top Pizza list and now Berberè are getting ready to expand more. They're opening their fourth London restaurant on James Street, Marylebone (taking over the space of another pizzeria, Homeslice).
Originally opened in Bologna (they have pizzerias all across Italy), Berberè's pizzas are all about their 24-hour-proofed sourdough, made with organic type 1 flour. And some of their top pizzas include:
- 4 Formaggi with Mushrooms & Truffle - Gorgonzola, Fiordilatte Mozzarella from Napoli, 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano, Provola (naturally smoked mozzarella), mixed mushrooms & truffle oil.
- Salsiccia with Yorkshire pork sausage, organic tomato, fiordilatte mozzarella from Napoli and 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano.
- And Babaganoush, a limited edition summer pizzas with aubergine, tahini, garlic lemon juice and olive oil, cherry tomatoes, soft goat’s cheese and finished with sesame seeds, mint and smoked paprika
They also have extras like the Montanarina, a light, crispy deep fried dough ball with toppings like honey & grated aged smoked ricotta or ‘nduja with burrata & basil. For desserts, their tiramisu is now infused with Kofee espresso, from Bar Termini founder Marco Arrigo.
As for the location itself, they'll fit around 45 diners inside and 16 on the terrace outside (you can't open on James Street without a terrace, of course). They've also linked up with Passione Vino, who have chosen their list of Italian wines.
