New opening

  • Look out Deptford! Toad Bakery is coming your way.

6/7/26 - updated with the opening date

They're one of the most popular bakeries in London, beloved as much for their idiosyncratic take on croissants as for their innovative collab bakes. They even picked up London Bakery of the Year at the 2025 National Bakery Awards. So it stands to reason that queer-owned TOAD Bakery would be looking to expand.

All of this is good news for Deptford folks who are about to get a TOAD Bakery in their neck of the woods. For their second bakery, owners Rebecca Spaven and Oliver Costello have picked a former rectory on the high

  • NAKIMUSHI sees the Dorian team bringing the Urchin and Robin's Ramen chefs under one roof

They may have recently said goodbye to their head chef at Dorian, but the same team aren't slowing down. They're getting ready to open NAKIMUSHI, which is bringing together the chefs of two popular residencies, Urchin's Yuji Shimokawa Kelly and Robin Kosuge of Robin's Ramen.

The pair are taking over all three floors of a townhouse near Notting Hill Gate. Inside, the two chefs will each be managing different space. So Robin Kosuge will be heading up the ground-floor ramen bar. On the menu here will be his signature lobster ramen as well as a charshu pork belly

  • South London seafood folk Sea Garden are taking over the old Prince Regent boat in Paddington

The husband and wife team behind popular south London seafood spots Sea Garden in Tooting's Broadway Market and Norbury are branching out. Natalie and Nuno Fecha's next venture will actually be on the water, as they've taken on the old Prince Regent narrowboat restaurant in Paddington Basin.

Their current restaurants serve up a seafood-focused menu, influenced by Portuguese & South African flavours. Brunches are a big deal, as are bottomless offerings and seafood boils. We've had a sneak peek at the menu and the seafood boil and surf & turf options are both on there as are

  • Cremer sees the team behind Space Talk reviving a corner of Hoxton as a cafe and canteen

You may be familiar with the building on the corner of Geffrye and Cremer Street, just as you come out of Hoxton station. It's opened under a few guises in the past years, most recently Molly's Cafe, from the people behind The Anchor & Hope. But it's always been something of a tricky site, despite a relatively prominent position and being attached to the Museum of the Home.

Now it's just got a new lease of life, and that happens to be from the same people behind the camera-phobic bar, Space Talk in Farringdon. Up until now, they've been rather tight-lipped about what they've

  • Mardy's sees the man behind Lita opening a sandwich shop in Mayfair

6/7/26 - updated with menu details

The man behind the very successful Lita in Marylebone, Daniel Koukarskikh, has quietly unveiled his next London opening, but this one is a little different. Mardy's is a sandwich shop that's opened in Mayfair.

Un until now, that's more or less all we've known. According to job advertisements, they refer to themselves as "a proudly British brand, straightforward, unpretentious, and grumpy about quality." That's backed up with a cartoon campaign featuring their grumpy lead character.

    However, now that it's

  • London's next Asian hype bakery is Rise & Fold in Bloomsbury with its Japanese salt bread

As Londoners in the know understand, if you want to try some of the really interesting new Asian food in town, you need to head over to London's emerging Chinatown in Bloomsbury. Which makes it the perfect spot for a new bakery to open its doors.

Rise & Fold comes from Chin Teow, the man behind dessert and matcha house brand Tsujiri. As he explained to Hot Dinners, "Rise & Fold isn’t about opening just another bakery. London already has plenty of excellent bakeries. What we felt was missing was a place that celebrates the exciting bakery culture emerging across Asia, while

  • Rocola sees the Crudo team launching a rotating residency restaurant in Hackney

The team behind Crudo in Covent Garden and Shoreditch and Tiny Wine in Fitzrovia are growing again. This time, they're opening in Hackney with Rocola, a rotating kitchen on Mare Street. In a similar approach to Carousel, Rocola is going to have a regularly changing series of guest chefs and residencies.

That's all kicking off with chef Nico Reynolds, whose menu is bringing together his Jamaican and Irish roots, mixed with time spent cooking in Buenos Aires. The food will include small plates like Prawn causa, Summer squash tiradito and Aji de gallina tostadas.

  • The Globe Tavern's next residency is Kismet, from the man behind Crispin and an ex Bibi chef

The Globe Tavern's most recent long-term residency was Khao Bird, which went onto big things in Soho. Now the next residency above the London Bridge pub will be hoping for similar success.

Kismet comes from the team of Dom Handy (Crispin, Bistro Freddie) and chef Keiran Mustafa (most recently Bibi). In a similar fashion to the recently opened Zylia, they're concentrating on Cypriot cuisine, but they're mixing it with Turkish elements instead of Greek (which is the chef's own

  • US celeb-loved chicken shop Raising Cane's is hitting London (taking over Leicester Square’s Angus Steakhouse)

Updated 29/6/26 with new opening date

Across the pond, its celebrity fans include Post Malone, Snoop Dogg and Cynthia Erivo. Now the chicken finger fast food giant that is Raising Cane's, is coming to London. And they've launched their campaign to win British hearts in a bombastic fashion, taking over the space that was for years the flagship site of Angus Steakhouse in the West End.

If, like us, you weren't already aware of the chain, here's a quick primer. They were founded 20 years ago in Baton Rouge and already have almost 1000 restaurants across the US. Their

  • Carmy's sees the Carmela's team opening a slice shop in Covent Garden

28/6/26 - Updated with the opening date

It took a bit longer than we expected, particularly as they were such a big deal in NYC, but London really is getting into the slice shop trend right now. And the latest to get in on the action is Carmy's.

If that name seems familiar, it's because it happens to come from the same people behind Carmela's in Islington. That's Phil Chaykin (who's also behind Ugly Dumpling) as well as Gerry del Guercio and Paul Delany, best known as the Bite Twice social-media food duo. The latter put their money where their mouths were when

The Pachamama Group have earmarked two spaces for new restaurants and we've got the scoop on the first one.

Soraya is actually one of the group's restaurants that they developed outside of London. While they were busy pivoting to the likes of Zephyr,

  • Roost will be Forest Gate's railway arches' new Algerian-spiced rotisserie chicken restaurant

25/6/26 - updated with the opening date.

The railway arches on Forest Gate's Winchelsea Road are about to get a boost from Roost, a new rotisserie chicken restaurant that's been set up by a local trio.

It comes from the team of chef Amil Ourabah (previously sous chef at The Coach & Horses), Jake Salter and Andrew Neilson, the latter touting his local credentials as being the great-nephew of Terrance Messenger, the last Mayor of Leyton.

The rotisserie chicken on offer at Roost will feature their own bespoke Algerian spice

Founder Man Hon Luk (who lives in the area) has learned his BBQ know-how the proper way, learning his skills in the home of BBQ: Austin, Texas. Since then, he's been popping up all over London and eventually
