Poolhouse is looking to reinvent the pool hall at Liverpool Street

If there's one area of hospitality that seems to be doing well right now, it's competitive socialising. After years of bowling being the only real option for a game as part of a night out, we now have darts, curling and even axe throwing. And we're about to get the new version of a pool hall called Poolhouse.

Opening near Liverpool Street station (so this is perfect for a City night out as well as the bridge-and-tunnel crowd), Poolhouse is going to be home to 20 full-size pool tables across a pretty sizeable space, with the tables in either private or shared rooms. It's coming from the people behind Topgolf and Puttshack, with a design that's meant to be a mix of "vintage motels and classic pool halls".

It does look impressive, and apparently every table has a massive chandelier on top. But those aren't just for show as they'll be projecting new types of games onto the table if standard pool just isn't enough for you.

As for food, dishes planned for the menu include tacos, bao, New York–style pizza, tempura rock shrimp, lobster rolls and a miso caramel ice cream sandwich. And the drinks sound impressive because they've brought in the team behind Three Sheets to do the cocktails.

So if you've been on the lookout for a new game night, this might be worth taking note of.
