The Dorian team are opening no-bookings Eel Sushi Bar in Notting Hill

6/5/25 - updated with new opening date and soft launch details

Not content with having one of the hardest-to-book restaurants in West London in Dorian, or the viral sushi experience Tuna Fight Club, the team responsible for both of those is now gearing up to open a sushi bar in Notting Hill.

Eel has taken over an old antiques shop on Talbot Road. It'll be a 10-16 seater restaurant that they're describing as a traditional sushi offering with "no omakase horseshit and ponce". Running Eel will be head chef Nick Xie (ex-Dinings) and it'll be one of those open all week long, walk-in spots.

Price-wise they're hoping to hit the middle market. As owner Chris d'Sylva explained to Hot Dinners, "You can't get good mid-priced sushi in London. There's Endo at one end and Itsu at the other and nothing in between. No-one wants (even if they can afford it) £300 omakase every night." Fish will be sourced daily from the Notting Hill Fish shop so expect the freshest sea urchin, razor clams and langoustines.

As for the wine, they're promising it will share the same wine list as Dorian which, in their words, has the effect of "instantly making it the best winelist of any sushi bar in the world." There's no word if Dorian's infamous £100 corkage charge is making its way here, though.

It all sounds pretty bullish, but given their track record, we predict this will be an attractive new spot for the area's wealthy residents to try out.
