What: Ritu - Seasons of India

In a nutshell: An interesting restaurant team open a new Indian restaurant in St John's Wood

Summing it all up: Former Benares head chef Navin Prasad is in charge of the food at this new St John's Wood restaurant showcasing the seasonal cooking of India.

The low-down

Already one of the trends that are emerging post lockdown is the number of interesting Indian restaurants getting ready to hit London. There's Republic in Dulwich, Heritage in Chiswick, Bibi coming to Mayfair and now we have Ritu.

Run by London-born entrepreneur and restaurateur Anubhav Srivastava, who runs two well-reviewed restaurants in Chennai, this will be his first London opening. So he's brought in the big guns by employing as culinary director Navin Prasad. Navin was previously head chef at Benares and also worked at Zaika.

The theme, such as it is, is to reflect the various cooking traditions of India as chefs work with the different seasons from the height of summer to the Monsoon season.

Dishes we're told to expect include:

  • Lotus Stem Chaat
  • Naga Chicken Skewers and Mumbai classic bread rolls
  • Dhunar Murgh
  • Kacchi Mirchi ka Gosht

“Ritu is a project that has been in my mind for a very long time," says  Anubhav, who says that he was waiting to find the perfect venue which he feels he has. "Now is the perfect time to turn this dream into a reality."
