As regular readers know, 2026 has been the year of the pivot, with a number of restaurants changing focus, cuisine or even the whole proposal. Now another is about to join them with The Twenty Two.
Previously, The Twenty Two was a luxe Mayfair restaurant with a menu that impressed us when it opened, and quickly managed to get the stars in with Tom Cruise making an early appearance. Of course, since then, Carbone opened just across the road and we can certainly see some similarities between the overall vibes of the two restaurants.
Now, however, that's about to change as The Twenty Two restaurant is about to relaunch as Cafe Twenty Two. As part of that, it's going all French and is having an interior makeover to match (they say it will be "a balance between classic Mayfair elegance and Parisian chic". Taking over the restaurant itself will be Guillaume Glipa, previously Chiltern Firehouse, Louie London and Annabel’s and he'll be in charge of a menu about "simple, classic French cooking". They're promising that a new cocktail trolley will be doing the rounds too.
That's all we know right now - we'll add more info when we get a look at the menu.
