Mayfair gets a new boutique hotel with The Shepherd Mayfair

Mayfair gets a new boutique hotel with The Shepherd Mayfair

There have been a lot of fancy new Mayfair hotels opening of late, from the Mandarin Oriental to the upcoming Chancery Rosewood on Grosvenor Square. And now another is added to the list, with this one planned as more of a boutique affair.

The Shepherd Mayfair has taken over what used to be the Park Lane Mews Hotel, just off Park Lane and not too far from Shepherd Market (they say it's actually within Shepherd Market, but we'd say that's somewhat stretching its boundaries).

A new hotel, of course, means new food and drink, and this one features a bar, cafe and restaurant. The restaurant will be called Fayre and is billed as "a London brasserie" with seasonal dishes, while the bar is called Teddy's. That's a speakeasy-style affair in the basement, serving classic cocktails. And finally, their cafe will be on the ground floor, serving lunch, "artisan coffee and beautifully presented pastries".

The hotel itself will have 82 rooms and is part of the Elegant Hotel Collection, which is also behind Durrants and Eccleston Square hotels in London, and Lainston House (which we visited last year) further afield. As we get closer to the hotel opening, we'll have more info about the food and drink on offer.
