You'll soon be able to get those viral Basque cheesecake bakery from La Maritxu in King's Cross

la maritxu is coming to king's cross

We love a single-item shop as much as the next food-obsessed person in London, so the news that the bakery specialising only in Basque cheesecakes is opening in our neck of the woods (ish) is a moment of joy. La Maritxu first opened in Connaught Village back in 2021 and, since then, has branched out to Greenwich and Soho.

Now the group are heading to North London, opening up in Coal Drops Yard behind King's Cross station. Here they're opening a cafe and bakery so you can also sit in to enjoy cakes, coffee and matcha. If you haven't been before, La Maritxu sells those baked Basque cheesecake whole or by the slice. In addition to the classic version, there's a Manchego cheese version, a chocolate option and recent limited edition takes have included a goat curd cheesecake and a pistachio one.

The King's Cross store will have some seats for those wanting to eat inside and out, and they'll also be selling mini cheesecakes if you want to grab one to take on the train.
