We can't quite believe it's been 10 years since Padella first roared onto the London restaurant scene. The idea of well-priced, freshly made pasta dishes in a modern setting blew our tiny London minds at the time and set the scene for a perma-queue that pretty much remains at its OG Borough Market restaurant to this day.
Now the duo behind it, Tim Siadatan and Jordan Frieda, are gearing up to open a third Padella (their Shoreditch one opened back in 2020). This one's in the heart of the West End, in Carnaby on Kingly Street.
On the ground floor, it's business as usual with more of a casual vibe. But the new downstairs restaurant and private dining room sounds like it'll be quite a looker. They're describing it in terms of a 1960s-style Soho lounge which sounds like just the place to linger with friends over a pasta supper.
As for that pasta, the good news is that signature dishes like the Pici Cacio e Pepe and Pappardelle with Beef Shin Ragu will remain on the menu. But they are promising some new recipes too.
"We have always felt the energy of Soho was a perfect fit for Padella," say Tim and Jordan, "and we’ve spent a long time looking for the right space." Looks like the search is over.
