For the past five years, it's been a must-try on the well-worn tourist trail in Bangkok. Now travel vlogger Mark Wiens' Bangkok hit Phed Mark is coming to London for a two-month pop-up. The London branch will take over the downstairs floor of Platapian, the Thai restaurant in Soho by restaurateur Nam Parama Raiva.
"I’ve been a big fan of Phed Mark for a long time," Nam says, "and I always recommend it to anyone visiting Bangkok."
A quick primer on Phed Mark if you weren't already aware of it. The restaurant, which is a collab between Wiens, Iron Chef Gigg Kamoi, former Thai actor Thep and food critic Kittidech ‘Tan’ Vimolratana, focuses on one dish, Pad Kaprao. That'll be on offer for the London popup along with an exclusive London special of mama noodles stir-fried with holy basil, grilled lobster tail and a fried egg. To add to that, Platapian are serving up some starters to the Phed Mark menu for the first time, including crispy spring rolls, crispy pork and prawn dumplings and grilled pork satay.
The pop-up will be walk-ins only, and we reckon it'll be pretty popular once word gets out, so you might want to get in there early.
