Fan arrives in Notting Hill from Peru with its Nikkei omakase

For the past two years, a group of friends have been creating waves in Lima's white-hot dining scene with their omakase Nikkei restaurant Fan. And when a city's Nikkei scene also includes the current World's Best Restaurant (Maido), that's really saying something.

Now Fan has arrived in London, opening rather under the radar in Notting Hill. We know precious little about what their London restaurant will be serving up. But a look at their Insta feed, and Lima menu, shows that there's a choice of either an 11-course omakase menu or an a la carte selection which includes dishes like:

  • Scallops, squash butter, manchego cheese, crispy rice.
  • Ceviche Lima-Bangkok served with ikura, shallots, tapioca cracker, pickled limo chili and coconut tiger milk.
  • Ebi emperador nigiri with shrimp, nikkei cheese, batayaki, lime and tare.
  • Sweet miso makie with ebi furai, apple furai, cream cheese, miso honey, smashed pecans and walnuts.

The trio of Romania Parra, Jorge Sasaki and Santiago Wong say that their food starts with Japanese techniques, but is then combined with Peruvian, Chinese, and world culture. We'll bring you more news on this when we can.
