If you love the idea of a festival, but baulk at the general lack of comfort and sanitation, then we might have a halfway house solution for you. For four nights this summer, everyone's (except the far right) favourite steakhouse Hawksmoor, is popping up in a Hertfordshire woodland with a special feast.
They're holding a cooking over fire experience in the woods at The Grove, a swanky five-star hotel in Hertfordshire. For Londoners, it's a handy tube trip to Watford on the Metropolitan line and then a ten-minute taxi ride to the hotel.
The evening kicks off with outdoor cocktails, choose from a Sour Cherry Negroni or a glass of Cremant, followed by a selection of canapés. Then you head to their banqueting tables where there's a series of shared starters before the main event - Hereford rib of beef roasted over charcoal and grilled Brixham monkfish with parsley and garlic oil. Dessert is a seasonal pavlova followed by Tunworth cheese with blossom honey on toasted sourdough and the whole dinner comes with paired wines.
You can just book the dinner, but if you do go for their overnight package, you'll get a Hawksmoor cookbook and you'll find a box of their salted caramel Tributes waiting for you in your room.
Tickets are £195 per person, including all food and drinks while an overnight stay including the dinner starts at £1012, making it cheaper than glamping at Glastonbury and a lot easier to get tickets for.
