It's one of the least attractive parts of the South Bank, but now there are plans to give the tunnels by Waterloo and the IMAX a massive makeover. The folks behind the move have form -  they run Vinegar Yard, Flat Iron Square and Hackney Bridge. In plans being considered by Lambeth Council, they're looking at creating a new food court, bar and event space.

The whole thing is quite the project with the space projected to have room for a massive 1200 guests at any one time. And it's moving at an impressive pace, with the goal being to open in time for Christmas.

As Lambeth councillor Marcia Cameron explains: "One key initiative is bringing underused areas—like the undercrofts—to life as part of our Nighttime Strategy. This will help expand Waterloo’s vibrant late-night scene."

We'll bring you more news on this as we get it.
