Popular Angel sushi spot SASA is on the move

sasa sushi is moving

An eagle-eyed Hot Dinners reader got in touch this week, pointing out that changes seemed to be afoot on St John Street. On closer inspection, it looked as though someone was moving into the old The Gate site on St John Street.

Well, we did some digging and it turns out to be the new home of popular Islington sushi restaurant SASA. As owner Mark Tan-Pham explained to us, the move wasn't planned, but they're delighted not to have to relocate somewhere too far from their original restaurant.

"We’ve spent the last 18 years in the same spot," he told us, "and while we didn’t expect to be moving, we’ve found a new home just a few doors down. It’s bittersweet, but we’re looking forward to this next step."

Anyone worried that the move will mean everything changes can relax. "We’re still the same family, and you’ll still find the same faces, the same food, and the same heart behind everything we do," says Mark. "The only difference is: a little more space, a bar for drinks, and room to explore new ideas (we're talking events and private hires!).

Our menu will carry on with all the dishes our guests know and love, with a few seasonal surprises and new recipes added to the mix—expect binchotan barbecue, sweet treats, a curated sake menu and ice-cold draft beer. And of course, as always, fresh sashimi and sushi."
