We were sad to see Patron leave our own local neighbourhood of Finsbury Park last year (which was out of their hands) so now we're very jealous of those living in West Hampstead as they're about to get the latest opening from the Patron team, called French Society.
Like Patron, it's a French affair (the name somewhat gives that away) that takes its inspiration from Parisian bistros and brasseries. The restaurant is taking over the space that once held The Swing.
They've also brought in chef de cuisine Louis, who's been in charge of the menus at Patron for seven years, so it sounds like a similar affair to the Patron mothership, but is being described as a "a petite sœur bistro that draws inspiration from its predecessor while embracing a new unique direction".
As for the menu, a taste of that includes:
- Hand-cut steak tartare, fried patate
- Black label chicken suprême, lemon tarragon cream
- Monkfish Brittany fish stew, saffron rouille
- Croustillant aux champignons, truffle spinach cream
- Longhorn Onglet steak, Café de Paris butter
For desserts, they will have chocolate mousse (of course) and crème brûlée. We've always really enjoyed the food at Patron and think that this will work very well in the area. Plus,
chef Louis seems to be a dog owner, so expect the new restaurant to be very dog-friendly too.
