Gareth Ward's Ynyshir in Wales has long been a highly praised restaurant and now it's finally made its way right to the top of the 100 restaurants picked for this year's National Restaurant Awards. Not only is it top of the pile, but it also marks the first time a restaurant outside England has topped the list.
Last year's No 1 moves only one place down the list, while Brat is the capital's highest placing on the list at No 3 (up from No 7 last year). It's particularly good news for Chet Sharma's Bibi too - that enters the list at No 5, a pretty impressive achievement.
Other new London entries include Adejoké Bakare's Chishuru, Trivet, Russell Norman's Brutto, Fallow, Mangal 2 and a notably high re-entry and No 6 for The Ledbury. It's also good news for The Ritz which jumps from 44 last year to No 4 this year.
Out of the full top 100 list, 61 of the restaurants are in London (and seven of the top 10). That's the largest percentage for a while (there were only 48 last year).

- Food Lovers Award: Oxwich
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Ruth Rogers, The River Café.
