South London Spanish restaurant The Tapas Room is expanding again. They're already in Tooting, Deptford, Battersea and Brixton - now they're coming to Peckham too. The restaurant has its roots in the successful Donostia Social Club pop-up and this will be the group's largest restaurant yet.
The main menus will be a mix of snacks, tapas, meat and cheese. So, alongside the usual suspects like croquetas and pan con tomate, you can expect tapas like:
- Octopus with Basque Pepper Stew & Samphire
- Truffled Wild Mushrooms w Quails Eggs & PX Glaze
- Confit Fennel w Pickled Figs & Asturian Blue Cheese
- Iberico Pressa w Piquillo Pepper Sauce & Griddled White Asparagus
Brand new for the Peckham branch will be a Spanish-style brunch. That will include The Tapas Room Crumptopus - an octopus crumpet with citrus salsa - as well as traditional broken eggs with morcilla.
It's taken over the space that was The Crown Hotel and is split into an upstairs restaurant and a downstairs bar and the bar will have a focus on lesser-known Spanish wines as well as vermouth and sherry. They'll also have a wine tasting one Wednesday every month that'll be free to attend. There will, obviously, be plenty of Cava on hand too.
