Peckham

Bara, a new cafe and sandwich shop in Peckham, is bringing something new to the table: a little bit of Welshness.  It comes from Zoë Heimann and Cecily Dalladay, a private chef who made it to the quarter-finals in MasterChef - The Professionals. 

That Welshness comes through with a big focus on produce sourced from Wales. It's also very prominent in a few elements like their own Bara Brith (a Welsh fruit loaf) and a Swansea Breakfast, which is smoked bacon, Blas Y Tir leeks, Câr-y-Môr cockles and laverbread on toasted focaccia. London's pizza scene really exploded in 2025 and 2026 looks like it's off to a similarly strong start with Connie's Pizza. It comes from Andrea Asciuti, the founder of 081 Pizza, based in Peckham and Shoreditch, which has made it onto the Top 50 Pizzas in Europe list. 

Connie's (named after Andrea's wife) will be a little different from 081. As Andrea explains, it's offering up the "UK’s first Bri-talian pizza". That means it will be a London-style crispy pizza, albeit made by Italians. The ingredients will also be very different from your standard pizzeria, too,

As proof that London's Mexican food scene is getting better by the day, comes a new opening in Peckham that genuinely sounds worth crossing town for. Maíz's USP is that it's the city's first Mexican restaurant to specialise in pozole. We're not going to pretend we're experts in this particular Mexican dish, but according to them, it's a "slow-cooked hominy corn broth infused with over five spices and simmered for many hours".

Spice bags are bigger than ever in London and the number of places to get them is expanding. Scaldy, already in residency in the City,  are coming to Peckham.

Peckham is getting an all-day, new school Vietnamese cafe which morphs into a canteen with a cocktail offering in the evenings. Let us elaborate on that. Italian food purists keep scrolling, because what we're about to write may trigger you. A new cafe is opening in Peckham that will be embracing the "authentically Britalian" trend.
