We may be right in the middle of a lockdown at the time of writing (without it actually being called it a lockdown) but Pizza Pilgrims have still managed to launch a brand new restaurant.
This one's a bit of a departure for them, as it's a completely new venture called Slice which is going to be popping up on the South Bank (taking over the space from Yo Sushi) from now until the end of 2021.
As you can imagine from the name, it's all about New York-style pizzas, served as huge 12" slices - or as a whole metre of pizza if you're really hungry. Here are the pizzas on offer (alongside the classic Margherita):
- Bianca Pie - A ricotta base with slow-cooked caramelised onions topped with mozzarella, olive oil, Parmesan, black pepper & oregano.
- Double Pepperoni and chilli honey - two varieties of pepperoni on their classic Margherita topped with a chilli infused honey.
- Mushroom and truffle - A truffle ricotta base with chestnut mushrooms, fior di latte mozzarella & Parmesan. Baked & finished with white truffle oil from Alba.
- Smashes Mamma's Boys meatballs - A slow-cooked marinara sauce base topped with Mamma’s Boy beef & sausage meatballs with basil, Parmesan & smoked mozzarella.
As for drinks, the slushies are probably going to be the main attraction, with Limoncello spritz slushies or Hard peach ice tea slushies to take away.
Obviously, it's only open for takeaway at the moment, with dine-in available whenever that's allowed. In the meantime, if you need something to fuel a walk along the Thames, this should be worth popping into.
