Old Street

It's one of Old Street's newest pubs, which is turning out great roasts and pizzas in an absolutely massive space. We went down to try Old Street Tavern.

If you've been missing chef James Cochran's Around The Cluck, it's just made a return to London, popping up as a residency near Old Street. He's taken over the food being served in family-run pub Old Fountain, where he'll be serving up his chicken every day.

On the menu at the pub, you'll now find:

• The OG Chicken Burger, with whipped blue cheese mousse, buffalo sauce, bacon crumb, bread & butter pickles
• All Gravy Baby! Chicken Burger, with chicken gravy emulsion, crispy chicken skin, crispy onions, lettuce, pickles
• Katsuuuuuuuuuuu Chicken

Look, we love a gimmick as much as the next person, but even we were slightly taken aback by the upcoming Old Street bar FlipDog. The bar (which happens to be a cocktail bar rather than a hot dog place) is going to be using a Loggerhead method to make some of its drinks. That means they're going to be putting a 1200°C iron poker into the drink "to enhance flavour, texture, and aroma."

It all sounds completely wild, but the owners behind FlipDog do have prior. Co-owner Artem Skapenko co-owns HRAM and Loggerhead Kyiv, described as a hidden gem by the World's 50 Best. That also uses

London's sports bar scene is pretty competitive. And if you want to stand out from the crowd when it comes to somewhere good to watch all the sporting action, then food is a good way to do that. So we tip our baseball hats today to Old Street sports bar The Volley, which just announced it's getting the Dom's Subs team to do their food from this summer.

Super Subs, as the new venture is being dubbed ("in homage to all the

Richard Corrigan's Old Street outpost

Tucked away on a side street off Old Street roundabout, an old boozer has been given a new lease of life in this chef's table restaurant with its own subterranean cocktail bar.

Things move pretty fast in restaurant news, and we like it when a chef keeps us on our toes. As we previously told you, Eyal Shani, founder of much-hyped Miznon (part of his 40+ global restaurant empire) already has another restaurant opening

The team behind Soho's Robata is expanding - they're coming to Old Street with Edo Izakaya (taking over the space that used to be Flamboree, next to Officina 00)

The name comes from the inspiration for the menu, the Edo period of Japan (1603-1867), in which izakayas began to become prominent. Food-wise traditional-style and new-style sushi rolls, hand rolls and nigiri

Le Bab are opening a new restaurant in Shoreditch - but this time they're going for a pint-sized classic kebab shop vibe. It'll be open late-night too - if you fancy a kebab at 5am!

A Hot Dinners exclusive

One of London's coolest bars reopens tonight with a hot new food offering. Tayēr + Elementary by Alex Kratena and Monica Berg created quite the stir when it first opened (you can read our Test Drive here) with its cutting edge cocktails and an equally innovative food offering by

Gizzi Erskine and Professor Green unite post lockdown for this deep pan pizza takeover of Passo in Old Street. We head down for the cheesy, carby goodness.

During the lockdown, Gizzi Erskine and Professor Green had been teaming up for "‘Giz & Green’s Monday Night Fakeaway" where they recreated their favourite takeaways from McDonald's to Wagamama. Now they're teaming up in real life, kicking off a pop-up at Passo.

It's all based around one of the most popular dishes from the series - their take on the deep dish pizza. Pizzas, made from

After opening last year, Officina 00 has won plenty of praise, not least a rave review by Marina O'Loughlin in The Sunday Times. But if you've been missing your Officina fix since the lockdown, they're about to re-open, this

With just over a week to go until St Patrick's Day, we made an early start on the festivities with a party last night to celebrate the launch of our 2020 Murphia List in association with Grass-fed Irish Beef. This is now the sixth year we've published the list, which shines a light on the creative input of Irish people on

Daffodil Mulligan restaurant, the latest venture from chef Richard Corrigan on the former Nuala premises in Shoreditch has announced its new bar in the basement – and it’s a big one – the first international outpost of the renowned Gibney’s pub, which opened in Dublin over 80 years ago.
