US chain Jersey Mike's is getting ready to flood the UK market with its subs

Another US chain is on its way over to the UK as Jersey Mike's, a sub shop which has over 3000 stores in America, is coming to London.

Jersey Mike's has been running since 1956 and it's all about sandwiches, made in sub rolls and served to-order, with bread baked throughout the day. Their particular USP is that all the meats are sliced as you order. You'll find subs like Mike's Hot Italian (ham, salami, pepperoni, melted provolone cheese) or the Club Supreme (roast beef, turkey, Swiss, Applewood smoked bacon). There are about 30 options on the American menu, so you can probably assume something around the same here.

For the first location, they're setting up shop in Soho, on Argyll Street (the same road as The Palladium).

But it's not just Argyll Street in the planning - apparently three more stores are already in motion and should launch soon after. So it's clearly going after a bit of Subway's pie.

And, as you can expect from such a huge chain, it's not going to stop there. So expect quite a lot more Jersey Mike's not just in London but across the country in the next few years (apparently 100s of stores are planned). But will they have the same attraction as the homegrown Gerry's Hot Subs (which has only just opened a new location in London Bridge)? We'll have to see.
