Highgate

The husband and wife team behind popular pizzeria Rias, now open in Notting Hill and Soho, share their favourite places to go in Highgate.

Top London pub landlord Heath Ball has an 'oops I did it again' moment with his second pub opening in Highgate. We took the bus up to Highgate village to check out The Angel Inn.

Having started during lockdown in Crouch End and now with a fully fledged bakery there and in Islington, the North London baker Sophia Handschuh and her husband Jesse Sutton-jones are gearing up to open their third place.

The pair revealed the location of their next bakery in a cryptic post on Instagram, asking followers if they could work out where it was. And it took fans a few hours to track

North London baker Michelle Eshkeri is building a little bakery empire for herself. She started with Margot in East Finchley where she became known for her sourdough bread and patisserie prowess. Two years ago she followed that up with the Holloway Model Bakery just off Holloway Road. And now, very under the radar, she's opened a third place, this time Margot 2.0, in Highgate.

The new bakery is on Archway Road, tucked in

There are plenty of restaurant operators who like to keep all their businesses close to each other - think Tom Kerridge in Marlow or Rick Stein in Cornwall. Now, up in North London, popular pub landlord Heath Ball is hoping to follow in their footsteps. Heath owns the super-popular (and our own personal favourite drinking hole) the Red Lion & Sun in Highgate, but has just taken on a new pub less than 200 yards

Champagne flutes and saucers are so yesterday. As of this week, one of North London's loveliest pubs is serving a very special Champagne in tankards instead.

Hertfordshire residents will be familiar with Lussmanns (it already has five restaurants in the county), but longtime Londoners will need to dust off their memories, because a Lussmanns is returning to the capital after more than 20 years’ absence.

Taking over what was Côte Brasserie on Highgate High St, directly opposite Waterlow Park, Lussmanns sixth restaurant is

Lucky North Londoners are about to get a hot new bakery opening in their neighbourhood. Tarn Bakery is currently crowdfunding to open just off the Parkland Walk in the bit where Archway hits Highgate, taking over the old Trattoria Terra space.

The folk behind it are Florin Grama and Felix Ortona Coles who met while working at St Barts restaurant in Smithfield. Florin is the baker with a career that includes time at

Just off Hampstead Heath you'll find this new fishmonger and seafood bar. We went to check it out.

Back in the dark days of the lockdowns, we happened about Bottle - a lovely wine shop in Highgate that seemed to stock some particularly good wines and beers. Now we hear that they've just expanded into the site next door to become a fully-fledged 'licensed cafe and store'.

That licensed cafe bit is important because while they are now a wine bar, they're also going to be open from breakfast serving up

Late last year, we wrote about a bottle shop and deli that opened in a classic car showroom in Highgate (which will still be running). Well, now they've gone one step further and are opening a restaurant called The Engine Rooms there. And

Highgate is about to get a new Irish pub and the people behind it have an interesting background. Called Brendan the Navigator, it's going to open on Highgate Hill, taking over the prominent building that used to be The Tourian Lounge, and before that the Old Crown Inn.

Top Italian sommelier Maurizio Titone joins forces with entrepreneur Marco Petrozzi for this boutique wine bar on Archway Road.

Celebrating London restarants by working our way through their cookbooks...

Hot Dinners first happened about new wine shop Bottle when we were up in Highgate just days before the current lockdown. The place had opened in November and, when we popped in to get something interesting to drink that night, we ended up chatting to the woman behind the counter and realised this place was worthy of greater attention.

The place itself, in the heart of Highgate Village, was the brainchild of three
