New Michelin starred restaurants in London for 2020

Every year, the Michelin Guide unveils a series of restaurants that have won new stars. They're some of the most prized restaurant awards in the business, and globally recognised. Here's the full rundown on who got a shiny new star in the 2020 guide. And if you want to read what happened at the event itself, that's here.

New three-star Michelin restaurant

Where: 9 Conduit Street, London W1S 2XG

Pierre Gagnaire's uber-chic Mayfair restaurant is certainly for special occasions - it's one of the most expensive meals in town. There are multiple dining rooms within the building, all with very different looks and menus. There are also incredibly instagrammable loos.

New two-star Michelin restaurant

La Dame de PicLa Dame de Pic

Where: Four Seasons Hotel at Ten Trinity Square, 10 Trinity Square, London EC3N 4AJ

Anne-Sophie Pic's restaurant at the Four Seasons hotel has been a hit ever since it opened near Tower Bridge. She already has many Michelin stars under her belt in France, now she's stacking them up in London too.

New one-star Michelin restaurants

Da TerraDa Terra

Where: Town Hall Hotel, Patriot Square, London E2 9NF

This is the third restaurant in the same space at the Town Hall and the second to receive a Micheli star there. It's co-owned by chef Paulo Airaudo and former Fera and Aulis chef Rafael Cagali who is in charge of the kitchen. The food is all about "Latin American inspired flavours with an Italian heart".

DysartThe Dysart Petersham

Where: 135 Petersham Rd, Richmond TW10 7AA

This Richmond restaurant has Irish chef Kenneth Culhane in charge (a member of the Hot Dinners Murphia, of course).  as well as winning its first star, the pub was picked as one of the most romantic restaurants in the UK by the Times and picked as one of the coolest places in the world to eat by Forbes.

Endo at RotundaEndo at Rotunda

Where: Television Centre, 8th Floor, The Helios, 101 Wood Ln, London W12 7FR

Rather beautifully described (by themselves) as sushi in the sky - this high rise restaurant may have urban views over Westfield, but the food being served up by Endo Kazutoshi certainly elevates this restaurant above other Japanese spots in London. Endo says opening this restaurant has been a dream for him - presumably getting the Michelin star is the cherry on that particular cake.

MaosMaos

Where: 41 Redchurch St, Shoreditch, London E2 7DJ

Conceived by James Brown & Nuno Mendes, Maos is best described as a hidden, permanent supperclub. There's one sitting each evening around a sixteen-seater table, with an inventive menu that is never the same.

Plus this year's Bib Gourmands and other awards

The Michelin Bib Gourmands "highlight restaurants which offer good quality, good value cooking". Here are the new Bibs for 2020:

  • Two Lights - "a fun, neighbourhood spot in lucky Shoreditch"
  • Berenjak - "modern Persian cooking at the small but perfectly formed Berenjak"
  • Bancone - "Freshly made pasta at great prices"
