Given London's ongoing obsession with Guinness, it was only a matter of time before someone thought about combining that with the city's biggest food-based attraction for tourists, afternoon tea. Now Islington bar Homeboy has taken up the challenge.
Their new Guinness afternoon tea is going to feature the black stuff in almost all aspects of the menu. That means that on the savoury side, there's Irish smoked salmon on Guinness soda bread, a beef & Guinness stew, an Irish beef slider with Guinness gravy and more. As for the sweet part of the afternoon tea, that includes a mini Guinness cake and a Black Velvet blancmange. The whole menu comes with a welcome drink, which can, of course, be a Guinness, but you can have one of their frozen Irish coffees or a pot of Barry's tea if you fancy.
Critically, if you go for the menu with the drinks pairing, you also get two more drinks, one of which could be a Baby Guinness. And if there's a better way of ending any meal than with one of those we don't know what that is.
So if you're a Guinness fan, or know someone who is, this is one for you. Homeboy are already known for pouring an excellent pint, so their Guinness take on an afternoon tea will be well done too.
