With nearly two decades in the restaurant industry behind him, Seanie opened Grasso in late 2023. The independent, 180-cover Italian American restaurant on Dean Street now feeds around 5,000 guests every week. Having made Soho his home for much of his career, he's agreed to share some of his favourite local spots there with Hot Dinners.

14 Richmond Buildings, London W1D 3HQ

A great coffee shop is one of the best neighbours I could hope for, so I was very pleased when ROVR opened just ten steps away from Grasso. While we’re getting set up in the morning before service, I’ll often pop in for a flat white and a chat. They’ve got an excellent record collection too.

15-16 Gerrard St, London W1D 6JE

Legend is in the name for good reason. I went through a phase of eating here once a week. I must be a creature of habit because I mostly ordered the same thing too: fragrant aubergine, steamed rice and - because it would be sacrilege not to - xiao long bao, usually spicy pork.

74 Old Compton St, London W1D 4UW

I started going to Gerry’s back in 2011. A real Soho institution that has saved my back many times with a good recommendation or a last-minute order. Their drinks selection is unmatched, but they’re also just a great team that we’ve got to know closely over the years.

58 Brewer St, London W1F 9TL

Not exactly a hidden gem but definitely one of my favourite local spots. There’s really nothing better than sitting at the bar and working your way through the menu, all of which is perfection. The jungle curry is outrageously good, and I could eat the claypot crab noodles again and again and again.

19 Carlisle St, London W1D 3BY

Yes, there are many places claiming to serve the best Guinness, but is there really any better plan than standing outside the Toucan with that first sip, next to Soho Square, on a Thursday afternoon?
