Indian restaurant Oorja finds a second home in Marylebone

Early last year, the man behind Gura Gura, restaurateur Gobind Chona, opened Oorja on Shaftesbury Avenue. Based on Northern Indian food and a more casual affair than his other place, it must be doing very well because he's opened a second Oorja in Marylebone.

This second Oorja has taken over the space that was once Xier and, more recently, Santo Remedio, so it's a site that's proved a little tricky to get right. But there's nothing quite like Oorja nearby, so this could be the restaurant to turn that space around.

The menus in Marylebone will be the same as those in Covent Garden (which means there will be a good "Tiffin lunch" set menu deal), and options run from small plates inspired by the street markets of Delhi through to biryani, curries, grills and dishes from the tandoor oven. Signature dishes include their bone-in lamb leg railway curry, a mango shrimp curry in Goan chilli and coconut vinegar and their smoked black dahl.

So if you've been looking for something new in Marylebone Village, this is worth keeping in mind.
