Solis, the chicken & steak restaurant from TA TA Eatery, is going permanent in Soho

Soho is getting a new chicken and steak restaurant that you'll definitely want to check out. It comes from the team behind TA TA Eatery, but it's also something you might have come across before. 

There's been a Solis at one of the Arcade food halls in either Battersea or Tottenham Court Road for a while. But now it's the latest from Arcade (following Manna a few weeks back) to go it alone with a completely standalone restaurant. They're taking over a space on Kingly Street that has been a Breddos and a Patty&Bun in previous incarnations. And it's also not quite the same Solis you may have seen at Arcade. 

The main dishes do remain the same, so there will be a grilled half chicken with smoked Aji-Aji chili oil and a flat iron steak with Solis steak sauce. But this new standalone space is letting them expand the menu quite a bit. So they'll also have Chateaubriand with steak sauce, chimichurri and aji picante and more butcher cuts as rotating blackboard specials. Another addition is a South American baked torta pascoalina. That's braised Swiss chard, watercress, two types of cheese, and a soft-boiled egg, all inside filo pastry. And there's more - like mushroom and cheese croquetas, Coctel de Camarones (a Uruguayan-style prawn cocktail), bocadillos and more.  

And finally, for dessert there will be a Basque cheesecake, chocolate torte and a stracciatella ice cream sundae. As for drinks, there will be sangria, low-intervention South African wines and a new cocktail list. 

We continue to hear good things about Solis, and it's good to see Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng back in a permanent spot. We also wonder what Arcade is planning to promote to a standalone space next...
