The 50 Best Restaurants in the World 2026 are revealed; Asador Etxebarri tops the list, with just one London restaurant on there

The World's 50 Best Restaurants (or The 50 Best Restaurants in the World, as it's now been renamed) were announced in Lima last night. It really wasn't a great night for London (or indeed UK) restaurants, with only one from the capital making the list. Ikoyi just about snuck in at number 48 (a rather precipitous drop from no. 15 last year). We were hoping that Mountain, which was 74 last year, might have snuck into the top 50, but instead that's dropped out altogether.

So yes, from a UK perspective, with only three restaurants in the whole top 100 (Kol and The Ledbury are in the 51-100 section), the whole list is starting to look more irrelevant than ever. We're not alone, though, as America only has one restaurant on the list too (maybe Elon Musk was in charge of their marketing?).

But if you're in the rest of the world (particularly Hong Kong, which has two restaurants in the top 10), things are looking better. And that goes particularly for Asador Extebarri, which has made it to No. 1 (which takes it out of the running for next year, of course). The Basque restaurant is beloved by many, and it's a hugely deserved winner.
