Braai Bird sees the Kudu team back in Nunhead with wood-fired rotisserie chicken

Earlier this year, Patrick Williams and Amy Corbin moved from Peckham and Nunhead to launch their very successful new iteration of Kudu in Marylebone. But they haven't left South London for good, as what used to be Kudu Grill is about to be brought back to life as Braai Bird.

Not straying too far from the "grill" part of its former life, Braai Bird is going to serve up wood-fired rotisserie chicken. That chicken is going to be slow-roasted "for maximum char" and paired with house-made South African sauces (like their Monkey Gland and Cape Malay sauces) and sides. The focus here is all about big sharing plates alongside their cocktails and South African wine.

As for the restaurant itself, that's getting a bit of a glow-up from Lithuanian designer Liga Piraga, who is giving a light update to the Kudu Grill interiors and adding more art from South African artists.

We'll have more on the menu (outside of the chicken) closer to the opening date, and until then, we'll leave the final word to Amy Corbin and Patrick Williams: "Opening in the former Kudu Grill site makes it feel even more like a full-circle moment. We want it to be a place where people can come together, eat really good rotisserie chicken and chips, and feel at home."
