Earlier this year, The Silver Birch in Chiswick closed after six years, but that's not the end of the road for its owner, Tim Price. He's completely relaunching the restaurant but moving away from the fine-dining approach of The Silver Birch and more towards a neighbourhood restaurant. And yes, we are putting this at least partly in the "pivot" category, but that's no bad thing if it gives the space a new lease of life.
As Brook & Green, the new restaurant has had a redesign (they're going for a "warmer" look), so it'll feel different even if you've visited in its previous incarnation. As for the food, they're calling the menu "ingredient-led" but with a mix of "Mediterranean, Asian and British influences". In practice, that means shakshouka or French toast for breakfast, while the all-day menu features dishes like crispy artichokes with aioli, chicken schnitzel, steak frites, Cornish crab pasta, slow-cooked lamb shoulder and more.
All that's in the main restaurant upstairs, while downstairs will be the Wine Room. That's essentially a wine bar serving small plates and wines by the glass.
So, if you're a Chiswick local and have been wondering what was happening with the place, it sounds like it could be worth checking out in its new guise.
