If you've been online at all over the bank holiday weekend, you can't have failed to see stories and posts of the epic queues for people wanting to visit the Korean food market in King's Cross. Such was the allure of the influencer Rollin Lee-curated festival that the space quickly became overwhelmed having to switch to ticket-only mid-weekend. Foodies were complaining of having to spend five hours queueing; although anyone who spends five hours queuing for street food might want to rethink their priorities.
All that being said, if you didn't manage to get into the festival (or were deterred by the queues) we have an alternative for you. Over in Netil Market this weekend there's a very enticing-sounding Korean pop-up. Behind it is Dom Sherington of Dom's Subs and his wife Sophie. They'll be spending two days serving up a collaboration menu with Netil Market's Hiya Fried, which includes a Korean fried chicken burger, fried chicken gimbap, chewy fried Korean-style potatoes and what sounds like an absolute must-try, butter tteok mochi.
"I know everyone’s timelines have been full of Korean food market content over the last few days," they say,"but we can GUARANTEE no 5-hour queues." We'll hold them to that.
