For a long time new sports bar Blackwood was being previewed with huge hoardings in Piccadilly. It was supposed to be from the ETM Group, the people behind other sports bars like Greenwood in Victoria and Beechwood in Shoreditch. However, things went a little quiet on that front in recent months. Now it turns out that a sports bar is indeed coming to this space, but it's now from a completely different group.
BOX already have sports bars in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham and Sheffield with this being their first bar down south. It promises to be a massive space, fitting in 220 seated and 550 overall, so it's not the place to come for a quiet night out. Entertainment here includes electric darts, shuffleboard, DJs and live band karaoke and, of course, lots of big screens to show all manner of sporting matches.
As for the food, it's standard sports bar fare, with burgers, Neapolitan pizzas, kebabs and loaded fries making the menu here, as well as a bottomless brunch.
