You may have been able to tell if you're a long-time follower of Hot Dinners that we're complete Japanese bakery addicts here. So when news reached us of a new opening in Canary Wharf, we had to find out more.
Cafe Seek is the project of two good friends Pinky Chan and Emily Leung, both Hong Kong expats who bonded in London over their burgeoning bakery businesses. Pinky was passionate about Japanese bread and Emily loved making sweet bakes. They say their USP is the sheer variety of their offering, helped by the fact that they "combine French pastry techniques with Japanese flavours to create a unique fusion. With homemade fillings like purple sweet potato paste and Daifuku, among others, you can savour not only the appearance but also the texture of our goods."
Signature pastries at their Canary Wharf cafe that's just opened include a matcha yuzu Suisse, miso ham bake, and a Japanese corn soup bun. And, of course, they're promising great matcha too. There's room to eat in or take away, and judging by the queues on opening weekend, this is set to be a hit.
