The team behind Brother Marcus (best known for their Mediterranean brunches) are trying something a little different for their next opening. They've taken over the bar space that was the original Blind Pig bar (above Jason Atherton's Social Eating House), and they're launching their own Eastern-Med-influenced cocktail bar.
They've teamed up with bar developer Angelos Bafa, who's had a pretty good run with the Kricket bar Soma and the bars at Endo Kazutoshi's restaurants, Kioku bar and Nipperkin. The look here will include lots of pottery imported from Crete and "a cave-like ceiling" apparently.
As for the cocktails, they'll include:
- Tuvunu Highball - KAMARA fig brandy, Metaxa 12*, Greek mountain tea, fermented figs in honey, fresh lemon, 3 Cents fig leaf soda
- Coffee and Honey Old Fashioned - Michter’s bourbon whiskey, Cretan aged eau de vie, coffee & cacao distillate, British burnt butter, Exmoor honey, aromatic bitters
- Smoked Pepper Daisy - Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej mezcal, single variety tsipouro, smoked boukovo, KAMARA hay smoked tomato spirit, crushed black pepper, basil leaf oil.
There will be snacks too, with the mezze also Eastern-Med focused. That menu will feature dishes like Cod’s roe taramasalata with sumac onion, Crispy calamari with zhoug aioli, burnt lime & Aleppo chilli and Greek feta sausage with aubergine bayildi, labneh and zhoug.
The Blind Pig was just the upstairs space at this address, so we're yet to hear what's going below - perhaps another Brother Marcus outpost?
