Upon the news of the surprisingly quick closure of The Midland Grand, we revealed that Victor Garvey was already getting ready to open another restaurant in Marylebone. Now, thanks to a crowdfunder, we have more details about what's planned.
Called Materia Prima, the aim behind the restaurant is all about "The best possible ingredients, served at their best."As for those ingredients, it's "whether that’s spiny lobster from Brittany, uni from the Faroe Islands, or the finest vegetables grown anywhere on Earth." They're working on a site in Great Portland Street that's described as having a 24-seater dining room, a separate private dining room and space for a full cocktail bar.
There's a £130k goal for the restaurant, with until 30 September 2025 to make that goal. Until then, this is one to watch and we'll have more details as it progresses. Until then, you can follow the crowdfunder here.
