Harrods parts ways with its big-name chefs, including Calum Franklin after just nine months

Harrods parts ways with its big-name chefs

Change is afoot at Harrods, where they seem to be making efforts to part ways with some (if not all) of their big-name chefs. This month sees the departure of three big names.

First off is the one that's perhaps the most understandable. Sushi by Masa, which currently takes up the main central space in the Harrods Dining Hall, is finishing up on 9 August. The chef, Masa Takayama, is opening a new restaurant at the Chancery Rosewood in Mayfair next month, so it's not surprising that he'd want that to be his main focus.

Next up is another top chef, Tom Kerridge, who will be wrapping up his fish and chip counter on 31 August. He's been in the Dining Hall for just over four years, so that's a decent run. More surprising is the departure of Calum Franklin, also on 31 August. That's just over nine months that he's been running the evening meals at The Georgian for, so if you want to try any of his excellent pies there, you have a few weeks left. The afternoon tea service there will be continuing.

Gordon Ramsay's burger bar is also ending, but he has had a reprieve until January 2026. Just what they're replacing these restaurants with remains to be seen. They say they will be "Harrods-owned restaurant concepts" so it looks like the era of Harrods collaborating with big-name chefs is over. It's a similar approach to what happened when Frantzen left

We'll update as we know more about the replacements.
