Kruk is Peckham's hot new Thai restaurant worth trying

kruk thai restaurant opens in peckham

We are all for the exciting Thai food scene in London right now and news reaches us, via Southwark News, of an interesting new addition in Peckham. Kruk sees two friends from South London who've worked all over the London restaurant and gastropub scene starting their first proper restaurant together.

Rob Willcox and Josh Lyons met while working at The Palmerston, but over the years have added Som Saa, The Begging Bowl, Plaza Khao Gaeng & Farang to their CV. They've taken over the old Bar Story space on Blenheim Grove, meaning they've got a huge terrace (as well as inside seating), which sounds perfect given the London weather right now.

"Our food is unapologetically spicy and hand-pounded," they told us. "Each dish is mirrored in plant-based for an inclusive dining experience for both omnivores and herbivores." On the launch menu, you'll find:

  • Green papapa salad with prawn, toasted peanut and tomato
  • Fried chicken with prickly ash and fish sauce glaze with house fermented yellow sriracha
  • Red jungle curry with chalk stream trout, tiger braws, bamboo shoots and holy basil

Drinks sound just as fun with a Kruk Kolada, Kaffir Lime Sour and Palm Sugar Prik on the cocktail list, along with Singha beer towers.  "We’re all about good times, warm vibes and unforgettable bites," they say.
